Jill has been extensively trained in wellness coaching and has been a Registered and Licensed Dietitian since 1996. She is one of the few dietitians in Houston who is board certified as an Eating Disorders Specialist Dietitian (CEDRD-S), and currently supervises other CEDRD candidates (approved supervisor) through the first ever residency program for dietitians entering the field of eating disorders.
She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in nutritional science from Texas A&M University. She also obtained a Master of Science degree in nutrition and food management from The University of Central Oklahoma.
Jill has gained experience in most areas of Medical Nutrition Therapy and has worked at various hospitals as a clinical dietitian in the area of oncology, OB/GYN with the most focus in adult intensive care, neonatal intensive care and pediatric intensive care. Her primary focus the last decade has been disordered eating, eating disorders, and weight concerns. For 5 years, she worked at The Methodist Hospital's Weight Management Center facilitating groups and providing individual nutrition therapy. She has also worked in bariatric surgery during this time as well. She has also worked with Houston Eating Disorders Center (now ERC - Houston) providing medical nutrition therapy for the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) clients. Currently, Jill works with primarily clients struggling with eating disorders providing nutrition therapy in her private practice. She runs a virtual binge eating group and provides dual sessions (nutrition and therapy) with Meredith Riddick, LPC-S, CEDS-S through A Collaborative Approach.
Specialties and Training:
Jill has been extensively trained in the following modalities: Family Based Treatment-FBT (USCD in San Diego), Emotion Coaching Family Therapy-EFFT (by Adele LaFrance, PhD), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with Steven Hayes, PhD), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy through Baylor University), and will be formally trained in RO-DBT (Radically Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy in June 2021). Her main focus working with adolescent clients with AN or BN is FBT combined with EFFT. Jill works as a team along side of medical, therapy and at times psychiatrist.
Volunteer and Community Involvement:
Jill has volunteered for the Houston Eating Disorders Specialists as the Speaker Committee Chair and currently volunteers with the International Association of Eating Disorders Specialists (iaedp) as part of a multidisciplinary team reviewing and approving applications for those obtaining their certification in eating disorders. She has spoken in national conferences such as the Annual Eating Recovery Foundation Conference in Denver, Colorado and the Annual Renfrew Center Foundation Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
She has been married for over 20 years and has two boys who keep her busy!
