Upon moving back to Texas, he worked as a nutritionist and site supervisor for the Texas WIC program, providing nutrition and breastfeeding counseling to pregnant and postpartum mothers, infants, and children.

As an intern, he worked with the inpatient eating disorders program at the Texas Children’s Pediatric Hospital. He also completed part of his internship at the Wellness Coaching and Nutrition Therapy practice, where he solidified his intention to work in the field of eating disorders and disordered eating.
Mateus practices with a weight-neutral and anti-diet approach to health. He provides client-centered, evidence-based care. He is pursuing a specialization in eating disorders and is currently being supervised by Jill Sechi, MS, RD, LD, CEDRD-S.
