What is a CEDRD?
At Wellness Coaching and Nutrition Therapy, we are committed to helping our patients overcome eating disorders and disordered eating of all kinds. Certification as a Certified Eating Disorders Registered Dietitian (or CEDRD) exemplifies this commitment, and is bestowed upon professionals who have demonstrated clinical expertise through education, experience and a rigorous examination process. Some of the qualifications for meeting CEDRD certification requirements include:
Over 2,500 hours of supervised patient care in the field or eating disorders
Supervision from a certified specialist in the field of eating disorders
A rigorous education and examination process
Please call 713-997-9613, Ext. 2 to contact Jill directly.
We understand the benefits of having two disciplines supervising those in the process of obtaining their CEDRD or CEDS.
Dietitians often times have minimal or no training in counseling skills or an understanding of the therapeutic process, various treatment modalities (CBT, DBT, ACT, etc.), or the complexity of varying mental health concerns in which many individuals with eating disorders may experience (co-morbid disorders).
Similarly, therapists have minimal training in the importance of nutrition intervention in the treatment of eating disorders and lack understanding how nutrition counseling and adequate nutrition plays a crucial role in the recovery process (healing the brain, balanced nutrition, nutrition education, etc.).
