What Do Conquering and Blooming Have To Do With Katy, Texas or Mental Health?

share to:

We all have fears, anxiety, doubts, and insecurities that hold us back from engaging in the life we have envisioned for ourselves. Because of this, at Conquer & Bloom Katy Counseling (an extension of WC&NT) we want to help you rewrite the narrative you’ve been stuck in so you can conquer those obstacles and bloom into that life that has felt out of reach.

Why Conquer?

From Merriam Webster: “to gain mastery over or win by overcoming obstacles or opposition”. Who among us hasn’t had at least one major obstacle in our life that we had to conquer in order to make it to the next part of life. Like moving away from home for the first time? First day of high school?

Mental health is something that takes more effort to conquer, and is also practically universal. And, like climbing a mountain, the more you strive, the better the view from the peak when you get there. A favorite quote of mine (see it in my bio video!) by Rikki Rogers is “Strength doesn’t come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t.” Conquering a mental health challenge goes far and above getting through the immediate challenge, it also creates greater skills for all of life.

Why Bloom?

A flower blooms after the work of sprouting from a seed under dirt, growing against gravity, and budding. Mental health work is often done in the dark, pushes against what is easy, and takes patience to come to the beautiful goal that is recovery. Also much like flowers, while recovery can look similar for many people, it is actually a unique process. What beauty can you, in the life Photo Credit: Elizabeth Bolton, 2019

you want for yourself and in your most authentic self, bring to this world?

Why Katy?

Katy, and the rest of the west of Houston, is growing rapidly and with growth more clinicians of all kinds are needed. In particular, there are no other eating disorder specialists on this side of Houston. I grew up in Sugar Land and fully understand how tedious and stressful driving into Houston can be, especially after school hours! Our Katy office, on the other hand, is conveniently located just south of I-10 off of Mason Road, and only 2 miles from Grand Parkway!

Why Me?

I am a board-certified licensed professional counselor, and amateur photographer. As a clinician, I pride myself on the individualized nature of the work I do with my clients. I see clients from age 12 and above, mostly those working on recovering from eating disorders, anxiety, trauma, self-injuring, and with athletes on their mind + body connection, injury recovery, identity exploration both during their athletic career and following retirement.

I don’t believe in being an automaton who asks the same rote questions to everyone, but as another person who has lived a life and is open to hearing where you are coming from, and how you got there. I want to help you smooth the path to get there, wherever it is you want to go, or even help you find where that is!

I want to help you Conquer & Bloom.

If you’d like to schedule an appointment, we have online scheduling available.

Yours Truly,
